Back pain is very common and can interfere with everyday life: sitting in a car, putting on a coat, lifting a child, or standing at a desk may become difficult. The causes are varied — injury, aging, heavy lifting, recreational activity, pregnancy, everyday stress. If back pain persists for more than a few days, the CCA recommends consulting a chiropractor for an assessment. Early intervention will help you get back to doing your actives of the daily living faster.
Three chiropractic-treatment methods
Soft Tissue Therapy – Focuses on relaxing and treating tight or sore muscles. Methods include manual release (stretching while applying pressure), trigger-point therapy (direct pressure to the tightest spot), and instrument-assisted soft-tissue treatment (using tools to apply gentle pressure).
Manual Therapy – Aimed at joints that aren’t moving properly. This includes joint mobilization (slow, gentle stretching of the joint) and manipulation (a quicker, gentle movement to restore motion).
Exercise Therapy / Self-Management – Your chiropractor can provide simple at-home exercises, safe lifting/posture tips, and day-to-day strategies to reduce risk of re-injury. Essentially, treatment isn’t just passive: you’re helped to become active in your recovery.
